Governor-General attends Tuckwell Commencement Dinner

24 February 2015

The Governor-General of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Ret'd), and his wife Lady Cosgrove attended the 2015 Tuckwell Commencement Dinner at ANU on Saturday 21 February 2015.

In addition to meeting with the 2014 and 2015 cohorts of Tuckwell Scholars and Graham and Louise Tuckwell, Sir Peter presented the main address, sharing his reflections on leadership, giving back to Australia and the important role the Tuckwell Scholars have to play in the future.

We were very honoured to receive Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove for this wonderful event, and look forward to continuing our relationship with them.

The tradition of 'ringing in' the new Scholars at the dinner was continued, with Tuckwell Scholar and 2014 Bell Ringer Matthew Jacob ringing the Tuckwell Bell once for each student as they were officially welcomed into the program by Chair of the Tuckwell Foundation Board - and ANU Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) - Professor Marnie Hughes-Warrington.

The Commencement Weekend also saw the parents of the new Tuckwell Scholars welcomed to ANU for a lunch with Graham and Louise, and a dinner with the Heads of the ANU residential colleges.
