Tuckfest encourages Scholars to ‘Think, Move & Change’
to create and sustain a community of Scholars
Last week, Scholars House was abuzz with the inaugural Tuckfest – a week of events and activities designed to promote health and wellbeing, community conversations about big ideas for change, and to enable creative expression.
The program featured sixteen events that were designed and delivered by members of the Tuckwell community for the benefit of all Scholars. Highlights included a guided tour of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Trail with Ngunnawal elder Wally Bell; a panel discussion on how to create positive change at the local and national level; community painting activity; morning yoga and running groups; active bystander workshop; and a dumpling masterclass.
Among the events held was the annual Later Year Academic Dinner on September 23. Hosted by University House, this event offered Scholars in their third year or above the opportunity to connect with academic staff who have inspired them by over the course of their studies. Over a delicious meal, Scholars initiated, renewed and deepened connections with one another and with the academic staff who attended. A similar Early Year Academic Dinner is held in Semester One for Scholars in their first and second years.
The events and activities offered to all Scholars as part of the Tuckwell Scholarship help to create and sustain a community of Scholars within which each individual Scholar has the opportunity to develop the confidence and competence to be the change they want to see in the world.
