Tuckwell Scholars attend annual retreat
The inaugural cohort of Tuckwell Scholars enjoyed a weekend at the ANU coastal campus in Kioloa, NSW, in late October 2014.
The purpose of the weekend was to have a chance to get out of Canberra, enjoy each other's company, review the year that was, and plan the enrichment program for the coming year in anticipation of the arrival of the second cohort of Scholars who will commence in February 2015.
In addition to spending time at the beach and toasting marshmallows around the campfire, the Scholars presented their progress on their group projects: ideas they have generated about ways they can give back to, and show leadership within, their community. Some great plans are starting to form, and we look forward to hearing more about their progress.
The Scholars gave very thoughtful feedback on the 2014 program, and rated the mentoring they receive from the Tuckwell Fellows and the experience of living on campus as the top highlights of a great year.
Joining the Scholars at Kioloa were the Tuckwell Fellows, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience), the Master of University House, and the Philanthropic Scholarships Manager.
The camp will be an annual event for all Scholars to participate in.
