Tuckwell Scholars take the stage in ANU Med Revue

The ANU Med Revue is a full musical style production, written, performed, arranged, choreographed, produced, and directed entirely by students from the Medical School. The Revue is a not-for-profit production, with all proceeds from ticket sales donated to charity. Since 2015, the proceeds have been donated to Companion House, a Canberra-based group supporting refugees and survivors of torture and trauma in Australia. This year they gave $20,000+, a record amount.
 
This year’s production received rave reviews from Tuckwell staff and Scholars, who joined members of the public at Erindale Theatre in Canberra’s south over three nights. A memorable moment came on the final sold-out night, when Guy Archibald (2022) quite literally broke his chair mid-performance! Briefly stepping out of character to manage the precarious situation, Guy seamlessly carried on with the show.
 
The revue showcased the incredible talent within the ANU medical community. Tuckwell Scholars from multiple cohorts took to the stage and worked tirelessly behind the scenes, with some creative contributions coming via video from those on regional placements in Gundagai and Bega. The production also featured special video appearances from Tuckwell selection panel member Associate Professor Krisztina Valter-Kocsi and former Head of Scholars House Associate Professor Michelle Barrett.
 
The shows were filled with laughter and high-energy entertainment, blending music, dance, and acting into a truly engaging performance, without a dull moment throughout. Credit goes to the writers and the entire team for crafting a show full of sharp wit and tongue-in-cheek humour. Popular songs were cleverly rewritten with a med school twist, while choreography, inventive props, and unique costumes added vibrancy to the stage.
 
A huge congratulations to all Tuckwell Scholars involved. The effort, creativity, dedication, and teamwork required to bring such a polished production to life were evident throughout. We are already looking forward to next year’s revue and wondering which Tuckwell “baby docs” will take the stage next.
