After growing up in Briagolong in rural Victoria, Ben joined the Tuckwell Scholarship and ANU community in 2020, studying a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics and a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in International Relations and a minor in Advanced French Studies.  

At ANU, Ben served his residential hall community as an Arts Representative at Burton and Garran Hall and on the Interhall Arts Committee for two years, organising dozens of arts and cultural events. He was also elected as a General Representative on the ANU Student’s Association in 2022. 

Ben is passionate about environmental and social justice and has worked in this sector as a fundraiser during his time in Canberra. In addition to his student leadership roles at ANU, Ben has also volunteered as an online tutor for regional students, and recently completed an internship at the Commonwealth Parliament. 

Ben has loved being part of the Tuckwell community, developing life-long friendships, providing advice to younger Scholars and receiving mentoring from the Program staff and Fellows.  Outside of university, Ben enjoys musical composition and hiking.
