Sam Saunders (2014) awarded a 2023 Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship
Congratulations to Sam Saunders (2014 Scholar) on being awarded a 2023 Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship to study a Bachelor of Civil Law at the University of Oxford. Sam was also awarded a Jesus College-BCL Faculty Scholarship and a James Fairfax Oxford Australia Scholarship (Honorary).
Selection criteria for the Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship included strength of character, leadership, and service; academic achievement; future goals; and a commitment to advancing a richer and deeper understanding of our civilisation.
Sam was a Tuckwell Scholar at ANU, graduating with a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and the Supreme Court Judges’ Prize for placing equal first in the LLB (Honours) and JD (Honours) cohort. With an interest in social justice and advocacy, Sam is Secretary and a Director of the charity Donate-A-Dollar-A-Week and has volunteered for the Aboriginal Legal Service NSW/ACT and the Refugee Advice and Casework Service.
With his World Universities Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship, Sam will undertake a Bachelor of Civil Law at Oxford. He will study international law and dispute resolution, and research the law and history of economic coercion. In the future, Sam hopes to undertake further study before advancing his career as an international lawyer.
Sam is an active member of the Tuckwell alumni community, and joins Jonathan Tjandra (2015) as a Ramsay Postgrad Scholar.
